Bear Creek Trailhead Concept Design
South Suburban, the City of Sheridan, and project partners are working together to create a new trailhead along Bear Creek at 3600 S. Federal Boulevard. The 1.4-acre site, purchased in early 2024, will be transformed into a community. This survey highlights what we heard about the previous design concepts, shares the final preferred design concept, and asks for feedback on top priorities for the design moving forward.
Estimated time to complete: 5 minutes. Your response will remain anonymous.
The survey will be open through January 19, 2026
What We Heard
The project team shared three distinct design concepts in the last phase of community engagement. All three concepts included key improvements such as separate bike and walking paths, a realigned pedestrian and bike bridge, and a small parking area for easy access.
Bear Creek Trailhead Concept Site Plan
These concepts were shared with the community through an online survey, at the Neighborhood Taquiza pop up event, and at the Sheridan Celebrates pop up event. The community clearly preferred Concept 1, especially its nature-inspired gathering spaces, shaded seating, nature play, and experiential trail. People want a design that feels natural, shaded, and connected to the creek. They also emphasized that the play area must be safe, visible, and accessible for children and families.
