Park Improvements Update

The following message was shared with Heritage Greens residents:

Dear neighbors,

South Suburban Parks and Recreation wants to provide Heritage Greens community members with an update on the Linksview Park Improvements Project. Construction began last October to replace the playground, install rubberized safety surfacing, a shade pavilion and seating area, install a san-o-let enclosure, and additional landscaping around the playground. The playground and shade pavilion were last replaced in 2002, and needed replacement due to age, condition, and the limited availability of parts. Construction was originally scheduled to be complete in June. The vendor that is providing the playground equipment recently informed South Suburban that the equipment will not be shipping until mid-August. Once received, construction will resume. At present, the new shade pavilion and site furnishings have been replaced and will be available for use by Memorial Day weekend. The remainder of all planned park renovations are anticipated to be complete by the end of September.

In addition to the park improvements described above, a separate construction contract has been issued to replace the park’s irrigation system. This project will be completed over the summer.

We understand the disappointment in not having playground access this summer and are working hard to complete the project as soon as possible. Thank you for your patience as we work through these final phases of construction. We look forward to seeing your children on the playground this fall!
