The Lone Tree Golf Club & Hotel cart path tunnels under Lincoln Avenue and Lone Tree Parkway were constructed almost 40 years ago when the golf course first opened. The aluminum plate tunnels are experiencing corrosion from decades of road salts tapplied to the public roads above seeping into the soil around the tunnels and they are in need of repair. This project will improve the tunnel's longevity by installing structural shotcrete liners in the tunnels and resurfacing the headwalls on the ends of the tunnels. Additionally, drainage improvements will be made to reduce nuisance flows from snow melt and golf course irrigation on the cart path surface within the tunnels. This project also includes some drainage improvements on the golf course between Holes 13 and 14.
Construction of the project originally began in February of 2025, however, initial investigations by the contractor discovered some previously unknown conflicts with existing utilities at both cart path tunnels and the portion of the project involving the tunnels was halted in April 2025. The design team has since resolved the utility conflicts with a minor project redesign and construction is slated to begin in November 2025 and be completed in April 2026. The drainage improvement at Holes 13 and 14 were completed in June 2025.

Construction will begin on the Lone Tree Parkway and Lincoln Avenue cart path tunnels beginning on November 17. Tunnel construction work is anticipated to last through March 1, 2026 and landscape restoration adjacent to the tunnels is anticipated to be completed by late April 2026. During the tunnel construction period, the Lincoln Avenue tunnel closure will require the Back 9 holes of the golf course to be closed, however the front 9 holes will remain open with an at-grade crossing of Lone Tree Parkway for golfers and carts to access holes 2, 3 and 4. During this time, golfers will be permitted to play 18 holes by playing the front nine twice.
