Powers Park Survey

South Suburban is updating Powers Park. The proposed improvements include upgrading the existing playground area, constructing a boulder scramble, creating a loop trail around the park, and adding a plaza and connections to nearby residents. Additional improvements include planting pockets with native/pollinator plantings. The playground area will include a larger shade pavilion, new playground equipment, poured-in-place rubber safety surfacing, and supporting amenities like benches, picnic tables, and trash receptacles.

The existing detention pond is not being modified as a part of this project. Mile High Flood District and the City of Littleton are studying Slaughterhouse Gulch flows including the detention pond in Powers Park. This study will inform future improvements to the drainage system/pond. Mile High Flood District plans to revegetate the pond in Spring 2025 with a seed mixture more appropriate for the existing soil and fluctuation of water.
