Phase 2 of the Hudson Gardens Pond Irrigation Replacement includes:
Installing a new clear well pump house
Replacing all mainline, lateral lines, valves, and heads with HDPE materials
Implementation of state-of-the-art central control system
Upon completion, the project will significantly reduce labor costs for repairs to the 25+ year-old irrigation system and eliminate sediment issues, thereby improving water quality within the gardens.
Phase 1 of the Hudson Gardens Pond Irrigation Replacement included:
Draining the lake and removing sludge and plant material
Replacing the liner for the lake, stream bed, and cascades
Cleaning and reconstructing the lake and stream beds, and cascades
Constructing a new pump station slab and wet well
Building a new diversion line to Bob’s Pond Water Garden
Creating flat lily pad ledges
Removing two dead cottonwood trees and an area of pampas grass
This phase improved water efficiency, reduced maintenance, and enhanced operations. The new liners and increased lake capacity cut the irrigation window from 14-18 hours to about 9 hours. The wet well optimizes the irrigation intake line, reducing maintenance costs and equipment failures. The diversion line lowers maintenance and labor costs. A new gravel edge improves access and safety for maintaining lily plants.
