The Hudson Gardens Pond and Stream Maintenance Project includes:

  • Draining the lake and removing sludge and plant material
  • Replacing the liner for the lake, stream bed, and cascades
  • Cleaning and reconstructing the lake and stream beds, and cascades
  • Constructing a new pump station slab and wet well
  • Building a new diversion line to Bob’s Pond Water Garden
  • Creating flat lily pad ledges
  • Removing two dead cottonwood trees and an area of pampas grass

This will improve water efficiency, reduce maintenance, and enhance operations. The new liners and increased lake capacity will cut the irrigation window from 14-18 hours to about 9 hours. The wet well will optimize the irrigation intake line, reducing maintenance costs and equipment failures. The diversion line will lower maintenance and labor costs. A new gravel edge will improve access and safety for maintaining lily plants.
