Update from the Office of Archaeology and Historic Preservation

The Office of Archaeology and Historic Preservation (OAHP) presented its preliminary findings of its August 2026 investigation at Jackass Hill Park. Decades of public use and unmonitored artifact collection has led to the conclusion that Jackass Hill is not of archaeological significance to be considered a historic site. Per their recommendation, South Suburban will hire a permitted archaeologist during the initial phases of construction to monitor the site in the small chance that additional archaeological deposits are uncovered.
