Sweetwater Park Public Engagement Summary

South Suburban launched a planning and design project for Sweetwater Park in fall 2025 to guide future improvements while preserving the park’s unique character. Through public engagement, site analysis, ecological assessments, reviews of nearby park amenities, and maintenance and operations evaluations, the project team worked to develop a shared vision for the park. The final site plan reflects these six key inputs.

These efforts were balanced with considerations such as long-term maintenance, constructability, habitat protection, existing site conditions, community needs, budget, and South Suburban’s overall district priorities. Together, they helped shape a community-driven vision and the final design.
