South Suburban is excited to announce that we will be improving the playground area with new modern-themed playground equipment and rubberized safety surfacing! Additional improvements will include a post-tension basketball court with new goals, new benches, upgraded ADA parking spaces, and new concrete walks. The existing shade pavilion, san-o-let enclosure, security light, tables, and drinking fountain will remain, as they were part of an improvement project in 2015. This project is anticipated to be complete in December 2023. Come check it out when the project is complete!

    (3) Bench pads have been added to the western perimeter of the playground. Benches are to be surface mounted by the end of the week.

    The shelter pad and remaining accessible walk to the S High St. parking lot were formed yesterday. They are being poured today, November 21.

    The post tension basketball court has been poured and the contractor has begun the tensioning process.

    The 2" thick base layer has been installed for the poured in place rubber safety surfacing. The top layer, or colorful layer will be installed next week with warmer temperatures.

    Crews are wrapping up the 4" concrete sub-base pour within the playground footprint. They are on schedule to pour the post tension basketball court tomorrow.

    The post tension tendons were installed. It is anticipated the basketball court will be poured early next week.

    The concrete sidewalk connecting E Otero Street to the internal park trail was completed today. It is anticipated the remaining flatwork will be formed and poured next week.

    The southern portion of the concrete flatwork was poured today. The remaining flatwork for the sidewalks will be installed tomorrow utilizing a pump truck from the west lot.

    The post tension basketball court has been formed. The tendons will be installed early next week with concrete scheduled to be poured at the end of the week.
