South Suburban is excited to announce the Milliken Park Improvement Project! The scope of this project encompasses improvements to the playground area, parking lot, and ballfield. Proposed improvements to the playground area include new playground equipment, poured-in-place safety surfacing, a larger shade pavilion, and new accessible concrete walkways. During the planning and design process, staff is also exploring options to create better efficiency and circulation in the parking lot, as well as provide additional spaces and improve accessibility. Lastly, we are exploring moving the ball field closer to the parking lot, and creating an ADA accessible route from the parking lot to the ballfield. Additional improvements include supporting site amenities like new benches, trash receptacles, and an ADA drinking fountain with a dog bowl.

Staff is actively collaborating with the design consultant on a conceptual site plan that has completed the pre-submittal application process with the City of Centennial. After collecting initial feedback from the City, staff is addressing their comments and plans to resubmit in April. Once a site plan has been approved, the design team will begin preparing construction documents.

Community members are invited to provide input on proposed improvements at Milliken Park through an online survey, available from Oct. 21-Nov. 5. Neighbors are also invited to an in-person public input event on Oct. 30 from 4:30-6:30 pm at Goodson Recreation Center (6315 S. University Blvd., Centennial, CO 80121) in Room 5.
