Exciting improvements are coming to Sweetwater Park! South Suburban is launching a planning and design project to enhance this beloved community space, and we want to keep you informed every step of the way.

Sweetwater Park, a nearly 32-acre park located along the Willow Creek Regional Trail in Lone Tree, has been a valued community asset since 1987. The park features walking paths, Willow Creek Trail, sports fields, a playground, a basketball court, a pavilion, and picnic areas.

In 2022, Douglas County acquired the northern parcel of the park, originally designated for a future school site, and deeded it to South Suburban. This land was officially annexed into the City of Lone Tree in June 2023 and re-platted as part of the unified Sweetwater Park.

  • Please review the three park concepts, then answer the following questions. You will see enlargements of these concepts again when relevant to a question, and will be able to review the concepts again at the end of the survey and provide additional feedback if desired.

    Concept 1: Community Core

    Concept 2: Expanded Play

    Concept 3: Nature Exploration

The questions are organized into categories based on four takeaways identified from feedback in Survey #1:

    • Support Community
    • Enhance Recreation
    • Update Play Features
    • View and Protect Nature

The goal of this survey is to understand your reactions to the overall feel of each concept and identify preferred elements and their locations. You are not selecting one single concept as “the winner.”

The final design will combine elements from these concepts based on feedback from the community, South Suburban, and Lone Tree. Budget, maintenance, constructability, habitat protection, and community needs will be considered.
