South Suburban is exploring the possibility of additional recreational amenities in the TrailMark neighborhood.
On June 26, 2023, staff presented to the South Suburban Board of Directors the findings and recommendations from the 2022 public engagement with the TrailMark Community. The purpose of public engagement was to address the closure of the resident-made bike park in 2021 and explore the community's needs and desires for additional recreational amenities. An online survey occurred from June 8-Sept. 2, 2022, as part of the overall outreach on the 2022 South Suburban Master Plan. An in-person public engagement event was held on June 30, 2022. The results of this outreach are inconclusive, with 51% in favor and 49% against any type of bike park and no clear preference for the addition of other recreational amenities.
Staff recommended the following to the Board:
Further investigate the community’s needs and desire for new amenities.
Identify potential amenities to engage kids ages 12-16 years of age.
Pursue an agreement with the City of Littleton and Jefferson County Schools to develop long term amenities on the future school/park site at Hogback Hill Park.
Investigate a potential partnership with Jefferson County Open Spaces to provide additional amenities.
Evaluate the southeast section of TrailMark Park for a future bike park. This would be a single-track course with earthen jumps generally located between the fire station and Hildebrand Ranch Park where there are no adjacent homes.
In September 2023, staff created another survey to provide the TrailMark Community the opportunity to give further feedback on the desire for additional recreational amenities. The survey was available September 6-29.
The next step is to initiate a site plan process for TrailMark in 2024.
