Designs for a new playground at Heritage Village Park are underway! Planned improvements include upgraded playground equipment and rubberized safety surfacing to enhance accessibility. A new shade pavilion will replace the existing structure, which has reached the end of its useful life. Additionally, new park benches and both standard and ADA-accessible picnic tables will provide comfortable seating for visitors. This project is funded through South Suburban and the City of Centennial.

    A pre-submittal meeting with the City of Centennial is scheduled for October 15 to review general comments and discuss the overall feasibility of the concept plan.

    Thank you to everyone who shared feedback, whether through the Open House meeting or the online survey. After reviewing the results, the majority of participants expressed interest in installing a nature-themed playground at Heritage Village Park. Please see the survey results below.


    Next steps: we will begin engaging playground vendors to develop concept designs based on the community’s feedback. Once these concepts are finalized, we will conduct another survey to gather additional input.

    Join South Suburban at Heritage Village Park to learn about proposed future improvements!

    We’re hosting an open house on Wednesday, September 3, from 4–6 p.m. at the park shelter. Come by to review the proposed concept plan, trail and parking lot upgrades, and the new playground footprint.

  • Conceptual Design Update

    Staff met with the design consultant to review conceptual designs for the park. Proposed improvements include:

    • Revising the trail connection at S Eudora Way and E Maple Dr

    • Converting the existing asphalt trail to concrete and relocating it approximately 10 feet north of the top of bank to reduce erosion and protect tree root zones

    • Addressing accessibility issues in the parking lot

    • Reconfiguring the shelter and playground layout to accommodate more shade and seating

    A public input meeting date is being discussed and will be held soon.

    Staff met onsite with The Architerra Group, a local landscape architecture firm, who has begun conceptual designs for the park. Once the concepts have been reviewed, a public input meeting will be hosted in the park for feedback.

    A design consultant has been selected, and survey work is currently underway. Once the survey is complete, the consultant will begin developing conceptual design alternatives.

    South Suburban has begun soliciting proposals from design consultants to lead the design efforts for this project. Once a consultant is selected, they will conduct a comprehensive assessment of the site’s opportunities and constraints, which will serve as a foundation for developing the conceptual site plan.

    Further updates, including details on public engagement opportunities, will be shared as the concept plan takes shape.
